Playa Den Bossa local Info
Ibiza - Island of Beaches
The Island of Ibiza has some of the best beaches in the Mediterranean, they can get a little busy in high season but for many that's what they come for. Playa Den Bossa has a beautiful stretch of beach, but if your wanting to explore the Island it has many lovely spots all around this lush green Island. Just a few kilometres to the south of Playa Den Bossa is the trendy beach of Las Salinas. It has soft powder sand and various beach bars/restaurants sitting on the back of the beach. The famous Jockey club being bang in the middle, here they play there own brand of chilled out sounds throughout the day by there own resident DJ. It offers a good varied menu from snacks to a hearty lunch, however the prices tend to be at the top end. Along the beach at the far end you'll find Sa Trinxa which has a chilled out day followed by a more lively afternoon. The prices here tend to be a little less fierce for both drinks and food. Es Cavallet is just round the bay from salinas and also has a fantastic beach backed by dunes with lovely clear seas. Here you will find a couple of good beach bar/restaurants offering good quality food at top end prices. Mid way along the beach is a popular area for gay men and nude sunbathing. You''ll also find a Chiringueto on the beach at the far end, also a popular venue for the gay scene. Along the south coast there are numerous lovely coves including the cove of Cala Conta. To enjoy the beach at its best get there early before the crowds arrive, once it gets to mid day the whole Island seems to arrive. Cala Vadella is a good family beach with safe swimming and some good beach bars/restaurants. Cala Bassa is a lovely sweep of beach which again is best to visit in the morning if its peace and quiet your looking for. Around mid-day the boats from San Antonio arrive with the young and lively crowd arriving on mass. For a beach off the beaton track check out Cala Salada. When you arrive at the main beach take the path to the right as you look out to sea and follow it over the rocks [ can be tricky in places ] to a beautiful cove. This may be the best cove on Ibiza, a joy! If your idea of a good day is to lay out on a glorious beach and swim in the clearest of seas then a trip over to Formentera should be at the top of your things to do list.. The beaches here are fantastic with soft powder white sand and clear warm shallow sea. Illetas beach is a beautiful run of small inlets with the famous Juan Y Andrea restaurant sitting in the middle. This restaurant has a wonderful location with the tables on the soft sands itself. Great food at top end prices. All around the Island you can find fantastic beaches, try Arenal or Mitjon on the west coast. Long sand beach with some small coves and rock bathing. Popular with nudists. Ibiza has some fantastic beaches that will suit every tast and with formentera on your doorstep you will be spoilt for choice!
